Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
2. In a large bowl, cream the butter and both sugars until light and fluffy.
3. Beat in the egg and vanilla until fully combined.
4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
5. Fold in chocolate chips.
6. Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes.
7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
8. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the sheet, spacing 2 inches apart.
9. Bake for 8–10 minutes, until edges are set but centers are soft.
10. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
Add sea salt flakes or espresso powder for a gourmet touch.
Dough can be frozen for up to 3 months.
